We understand that settling in is a critical phase not only for new children but especially for parents who are also on this new journey.
Under COVID conditions it has been hard to be as interactive as we would like with new parents, but please see the process and responsibilities below, which we hope will help your childs transition go smoothly.
The team lead for each room is to settle all new children.

They will be responsible for:
• Settling in the child.
• Parent partnership.
• Ensuring the learning journal is ready for the new child
Summative assessment starting points on 3 prime areas from parent/carer.

First 5 settling in sheets with parent/carer feedback.
First 6 weeks sheet with parent/carer feedback.
They will also be responsible for parent/carer handover at end of sessions to ensure feedback on their session is given and any problems dealt with immediately.
The team lead key person will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition to the child’s permanent key person and introducing them to the parent/carer with the role of the key person.
The early years are crucial for children’s nutrition, and nurseries are a fantastic environment for children to learn about food. Evidence suggests that that a good, varied diet is the best way to ensure optimal mental and behavioural performance in children, so it is vital that children eat high quality nursery meals during this period. Beech Tree Childcare can provide hot meals through our partnership with Zebedees who have been providing catering services for nurseries for over 20 years.
Special dietary/religious and allergy considerations can be catered for (Please specify with a member of the team)
The cost is £2.50 per child per meal.
Beech Tree Childcare also actively supports Parents/Children bringing in their own healthy meals and snacks.
Please download our current menus below.
At Beech Tree Childcare we offer flexible contracted hours and charge by the hour, not by the session. Our current hourly rate is £5.00 per hour/£4 per sibling. Meals can be provided at Beech Tree Childcare at a cost of £2.50 per meal. All children must attend a minimum of 15 hours per week.
The rate of Early Years Funding for all funded 3 and 4 year olds across West Sussex is £4.56 per hour. This was set on the 1st April 2021. This was the first increase in the early years funding rate since April 2017. This is for the 15 hours universal funding for all children and the 30 hours extended funding.
By law we are not allowed to charge a ‘top up’ fee on the funded hours. This means that with the annual increases in the Living Wage rates, pension contributions, food and general running costs for the Early Years sector a service charge must be added for funded children. (See full document below)

Free entitlement to childcare is provided by the Government. It allows some 2 year olds access to free, good quality, flexible early education or childcare.
Children can use up to 570 hours each year, or a maximum of 15 hours over 38 weeks, from a pre-school, nursery or an accredited childminder who are registered to offer free places.
The childcare provider must be rated ‘Satisfactory', 'Good' or 'Outstanding' in their most recent Ofsted report to be authorised to offer free childcare.
Your childcare provider shouldn't charge you as the entitlement is for a free place rather than a subsidy towards your fees. However, they can set their own rates for any additional time or services that you take. They should let you know in advance what you will be expected to pay.
