Investors in People is delighted to award Beech Tree Childcare, West Sussex based leading childcare nursery We invest in people apprentice’s gold accreditation.

In late 2018, Investors in People were commissioned by the Department for Education to create a framework for organisations in the UK to use to ensure they are consistently delivering high quality apprenticeships.

Now that Beech Tree Childcare have been confirmed as a We invest in apprentices organisation, it means that they are committed to their apprentices, they are developing them for the benefit of the individual and the organisation, and there are clear channels of communication and support for each apprentice.

They truly make work better, and Investors in People are proud to Beech Tree Childcare as part of their community.

Beech Tree Childcare have embraced the ethos that everyone deserves an opportunity, and through working with Apprentices they have opened development paths for not only school leavers but also people looking at new career paths.

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate Beech Tree Childcare. Being accredited with ‘We invest in apprentices’ is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Beech Tree Childcare in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of delivering high quality apprenticeships.

Commenting on the award, Nick Squire, Business & Training Manager, said: “Thomas Edison quoted ‘Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.’, but with apprenticeships the work and career pathway are clearly signposted, and they have attracted a vibrant, energetic, fulfilled workforce at the nursery. We are really excited to gain the Gold Award and see where it can propel the business “

Beech Tree's Eco Drive

22 April, 2021 - Earthday

The new vegetable and flower gardens at the nursery are starting to take shape as the Spring weather kicks in. A few fatalities amongst the vegetables, but thankfully we have plenty of seeds in reserve thanks to parents and carers. The learning opportunities are boundless and any activity in the garden always raises a lot of questions from the children.

As a part of our drive to become an Eco Friendly Business we have now starting composting our food waste from Lunches/Tea's, and have assorted bins for all different types of waste.

We are a huge exponent of upcycling when it comes to our props and play items, upcycling items from Analogue Telephones and Typewriters to Suitcases and Scarves, as nearly every item makes for a great learning experience.

Beech Tree Training Excellence Centre kicks off 2021 with a Lockdown Library for Parents & Carers

2020 Hindsight, Dont look back in anger, it will be over by Christmas!....Sound familiar?

One thing that the pandemic has taught us is that we must always strive to move forwards, and equally to never leave anyone behind. That is so true in early years education, but not solely, as following on from our Investors in People Award, with an even stronger focus on supporting Apprentices, we bounce in to 2021 with Beech Tree Training Excellence!

The Training Excellence Centre has been developed with our intake of Apprentices in mind to act as a support to them whilst they work towards their Level 2 & 3 Diplomas in Early Years Education. The ultimate aim of the centre is to work towards becoming recognised as the go-to resource for Apprenticeships in Early Years Education.

Lockdown Library to Help Parents & Carers

As Beech Tree Childcare continues to safely support families in these uncertain times, we realise there will be circumstances when your child/children may not be able to easily attend, so to support you and your child in these circumstances we have pulled together a Lockdown Learning Library.

The Library is a page of resources that can help you and your child fill the time with fun activities that are supported in the EYFS framework.

If you have already found resources that you think would be valuable for other parents/carers then please send over a link to me at and i will get them added for the community.

Angmering Nursery thrilled to beat industry average for Investors in People Award

Beech Tree Childcare has been awarded a Silver Investors in People accreditation, recognising the support staff are with career development.

This is the first time Beech Tree Childcare, based in the grounds of Worthing Rugby Club in Angmering, has been through the rigorous process and owner Heather Harmer was delighted to achieve the silver level amid a global pandemic.

She said: “This process looked at, amongst many things, our leadership, management, development, values, communication, team working and continuous improvement, focusing on how our employees perceive all of these factors.

“Our survey was benchmarked against primary education and we outperformed the industry average, scoring 830 out of 900, compared to the industry average of 777.

“Silver is awarded to 20 per cent of the organisations accredited by Investors in People, who demonstrate their principles are in place, shared and implemented consistently throughout the organisation. We are also a significant way towards achieving gold, which we hope to achieve by the time we are next assessed.”

7th January 2021- Beech Tree Childcare are proud to continue to support all our families and importantly our key workers by providing education and care for their children during the current national lockdown announced on the 4th Jan 2021.

Please follow the links below for government guidelines in early years education.

There are several ways that parents and carers can continue to access childcare:

  • Early years settings (including nurseries and childminders) remain open
  • Childminders should continue to allow children to attend as normal except for school-aged children. Childminders caring for school-aged children (including reception children) should only admit vulnerable children and children of critical workers.
  • Vulnerable children and children of critical workers can continue to use registered childcare, childminders and other childcare activities (including wraparound care)
  • parents can form a childcare bubble with one other household for the purposes of informal childcare, where the child is under 14. This is mainly to enable parents to work, and must not be used to enable social contact between adults
  • some households will also be able to benefit from being in a support bubble
  • nannies will be able to continue to provide services, including in the home
